Surprise Redemption

Redemption was a surprise unexpected
a moment when hurt was redirected
and health came gently instead
restoring dignity lifting my head
empowerment from one I just wouldn’t have thought
has me moving on from being caught
how far will it go? time will tell
but in this moment I know full well
that once is not always and that is a very good thing
it makes me want to keep my eyes open to see what tomorrow will bring
