Defiant Survival

She was planted in a place contrary to flourishing
significant obstacles challenged her nourishing
it wasn’t her fault life began in such a place
but her perspective would be her race
and whether or not she would finish would be her choice
since her world wasn’t tuned to hear her voice
the odds were against her staying alive
so she defied them to survive
because of this she didn’t quite fit in
and her refusal to cooperate rendered a win
she defied expectations and brilliantly got it done
leaving it all behind she arrived in the sun
