Canvas

The first time I ever put the pen to the pad
I got the feeling like none I’d ever had
like I was alive for the very first time
the word the expression the energy the rhyme
such a blessing to have this canvas for my art
I knew this would be for me from the start
I would learn so much as my heart was stirred
that my canvas would always be for word
Written spoken filmed or recorded
these mediums saw my expressions supported
and then the best thing that ever came to be
was when I realized the best canvas is me
I am the medium for these words to be conveyed
the canvas on which His art is displayed
and this Wordsmith couldn’t possibly be greater
He’s the Poet I’m the poem
happily created by the Creator
