Uncover the Glory

It’s no secret that I’m a fan of fire in the fall
but our fire pit gets overgrown when it’s not used at all
and ends up a lawn mowing obstacle in our backyard
far from its original purpose its usefulness is marred
a look out the kitchen window just makes me sad
because grassy fireless fire pits are just plain bad
it takes the right combination of people and planning
to uncover the glory of campfire flames fanning
what a sight in the October night sky
friends good food I sit back and sigh
taking it all in what a way for a day to end
before the grass sprouts in my fire pit let’s be sure and do this again
