Inscribed on Hearts

The opportunity to do what’s right comes to us all
the occasion is in fact a rise or a fall
to the call of our convictions and what we will do
will we stand alone or will we stand with the few
who hold these truths to be self evident
drawing resolute lines setting bedrock precedent
for decades and centuries of millions to follow
proving these words to never be hollow
but instead inspiring emulations and starts
documented on paper inscribed on hearts
